ORANJESTAD, Aruba
-- The Aruba Hotel & Tourism Association (AHATA), celebrating
its 40th anniversary this year, has reorganized its marketing
operation in a move designed to strengthen its marketing support
and membership services, according to Jorge Pesquera, president and
CEO.
Scott Wiggins has
been promoted to senior director, sales and marketing for North
America as well as director of operations for the Aruba Meetings
and Convention Bureau.
Mayline Menendez and
Donna Del Gallo, new regional sales directors, report to
Wiggins.
Pesquera said that
AHATAs goal is the establishment of a foundation, using a typical
convention and visitor bureaus model, that would receive permanent
funding from a legislated portion of the room tax, matched or
supplemented by AHATA funds and governed by a board of public and
private sector representatives.
Well-known Aruban
and former tourism official Adwina Arends has joined AHATAs
marketing department in the areas of leisure sales and industry
relations and will represent AHATA as its North American marketing
manager.
Newly appointed
director of business development Marcial Charly Ibarra will focus
on group and leisure marketing services and will represent AHATA as
its official Charly from Aruba ambassador.
