The operator was recently granted a license to operate the programs by the U.S. State Department's Office of Foreign Assets Control.
Backroads has five confirmed departure dates in May and June of 2013, as well as 10 pending departures in December 2013 and 14 pending departures in January and February 2014, according to Michelle Muench, Latin American regional manager.
The operator expects pending dates to be confirmed by April 15. All tours will leave from Miami and accommodate up to 20 guests per tour.
The eight-day tours, priced from $5,198 per person, double (plus $550 for roundtrip air from Miami), will include visits to museums, art studios, coffee plantations, farms and national parks.
