Bahamian hotels extend passport deal for summer travel

Nassau/Paradise Island in the Bahamas is extending its passport reimbursement program to June 15; travel must be booked by that date and used for a minimum two-night stay at one of 19 participating hotels between June 1 and Sept. 30 (limit of two rebates per room). The offer is valid for passports issued from May 1 to July 7.

The extension will reimburse not only the cost of new passports but also the U.S. government expediting fee so that travelers can receive new passports in approximately two weeks.

The destination's winter passport reimbursement program resulted in more than 6,000 reimbursements, according to NPI tourism officials.

The reimbursement program translates into a potential savings of $314 for an adult couple.

To apply for the reimbursement, travelers must download a rebate form from www.nassauparadiseisland.com, which they submit with a copy of a paid hotel bill, an airline boarding pass for both travelers, a photocopy of each traveler's passport photo pages and receipts for the passport application, execution and expediting fees (if applicable).

The Web site also lists the properties participating in the extended reimbursement program.
