British Airways CEO Willie Walsh will address delegates at a Carribean Tourism Organization conference taking place Oct. 8 to 11 in Barbados.
Walsh’s keynote address will focus on the future of intercontinental travel and the importance of partnerships between airlines and destinations they serve.
The CTO Leadership Strategy Conference will coincide with the election of a new CTO chairman to succeed John Maginley, who is the minister of tourism for Antigua and Barbuda. The CTO chair is a two-year term.
The conference is being held for the first time and will include a presentation by Henry Harteveldt of Forrester Research.
Discussions and workshop sessions will cover finance, marketing, immigration, security and sustainability.
Attendees will include tourism leaders and representatives from labor unions, airlines, airport authorities, hotels and other private sector partners.
"A conference of this caliber is a first in CTO’s history," said Sylma Brown Bramble, director of marketing. "It is vital for the continuing evolution of our efforts to increase and improve tourism to the region."
