Damage assessments from Hurricane Paloma's strike on Cayman Brac and Little Cayman on Nov. 8 indicate that the tourist accommodations on Little Cayman are expected to reopen early next week; Cayman Airways Express will resume regular flight schedules from Grand Cayman at the same time.

Cayman Brac was directly impacted by Paloma, a Category 4 storm when it hit, and sustained significant damage, according to the Cayman Islands Dept. of Tourism.

Assessments and recovery efforts are underway, and updates on the status of hotel reopenings will be posted on the destination's official website as they become available.

Ticketed air passengers traveling to either Cayman Brac or Little Cayman through Dec. 31 will be offered a travel voucher or a refund for the full value of the fare purchased, provided that the tickets were issued by Cayman Airways Express for travel to either island. For tickets issued by other carriers with segments on Cayman Airways, a refund must be processed by the issuing carrier.

Editor's Note: Due to an editing error, the original story stated that Cayman Brac also was set to open to tourists in the near future. However, due to storm damage, only Little Cayman will be ready for tourists net week.
