CTO names keynote speaker for sustainable tourism confab

David Suzuki, an environmental scientist and environmentalist, will deliver the keynote address at the 10th Annual Caribbean Conference on Sustainable Tourism Development, set for April 28 to May 1 at Beaches Turks & Caicos Resort & Spa in Providenciales, Turks and Caicos.

The conference, organized by the Caribbean Tourism Organization in collaboration with the Turks & Caicos Tourist Board and the Caribbean Hotel Association, will examine the effects of global warming and other environmental issues on the Caribbean region and how CTO member nations can implement sustainable tourism policies.

Suzuki's keynote speech is expected to address environmental issues in keeping with this year's conference theme, "Keeping the Right Balance -- Sustaining the Caribbean Coastal Product."

In addition to Suzuki, the event will feature study tours of the Turks and Caicos Islands.
