Caribbean marketing organization to host tourism summit

The Caribbean Tourism Development Co. (CTDC), a joint marketing and business development unit owned equally by the Caribbean Hotel Association and the Caribbean Tourism Organization, will host the inaugural Caribbean Tourism Summit, set for June 21 to 25 at the Ronald Reagan Building and International Trade Center in Washington.

The event has been created by leaders of Caribbean governments, hotels and tourism officials and will feature a high-level conference focusing on investments and marketing, an awards dinner, a gala ball and an exhibit, the CTDC said.

The event will coincide with Caribbean American Heritage Month and will include events for the Caribbean diaspora, or extended Caribbean community.

This event will replace Caribbean Week in New York, an event held in New York for the past several years that featured a trade show, a media marketplace and consumer-oriented events.

More than 1,000 leaders from 32 Caribbean countries are expected to attend the inaugural tourism summit, along with U.S. government officials and members of the tourism and investment communities.
