NEW YORK — Plans for the relaunch of the Caribbean's long-dormant marketing and business-development unit will be revealed during Caribbean Week, the annual event sponsored by the Caribbean Tourism Organization.

CTO, along with the Caribbean Hotel and Tourism Association, will unveil strategies behind the revitalization of the Caribbean Tourism Development Co., which was created in 2007.

The revitalized CTDC will market the Caribbean brand through licensing, merchandising, advertising and the sale of vacation travel via its redesigned website at, according to Ricky Skerritt, CTO chairman and minister of tourism of St. Kitts and Nevis.

The site will include an integrated booking platform that will cater to the smaller properties in the Caribbean.

In addition to the revamped site, the use of social media will figure prominently in the marketing of the new CTDC, according to Skerritt.
