Treasure Beach, a fishing and farming enclave on Jamaica's south coast, recently opened the first phase of a team-building challenge course.
The General Colin Powell Challenge Course is named after former U.S. Secretary of State Colin Powell, whose parents were from the area.
The facility, located within the Treasure Beach Sports Park & Academy, is designed to take participants through a supervised series of physical and mental activities, including five low-rope elements and one 45-foot climbing wall.
A team of volunteers, along with members of the Jamaica Defense Force, helped build the course, which already has hosted three corporate teams and several youth groups.
"The course provides us with an opportunity to promote the south coast and its offerings. As we increase our efforts to further develop our product to add to the appeal of the destination, visitors to Treasure Beach now can take advantage of group activities being offered in Treasure Beach," said John Lynch, Jamaica’s director of tourism.
