Cuba is well on its way to setting a record for annual visitors.
The country reported that it hit the 2.6 million mark on Sept. 30,
two months earlier than in 2014. Cuba welcomed a record 3 million visitors last year.
In the month of September alone, nearly 200,000
tourists arrived, up 27.4% over September 2014.
Canada remained the top source market, with
more than one million through Sept. 30. Other top source markets were Germany, the U.K.,
France, Spain and Mexico.
Although no breakdown of U.S. visitors was
available, U.S. tour operators report increased
demand across the board and several have increased their departures and added new tours to handle demand.
