Cuba extends Mexico air travel ban

Cuba has indefinitely suspended regular and charter flights to and from Mexico, but is allowing airlines to fly empty planes to Cuba to return travelers to Mexico.

The restrictions will remain in effect “until the causes that have prompted these decisions cease,” Cuba said in a statement.

The new restrictions amend a blanket 48-hour ban on flights between Mexico and Cuba announced Tuesday.
