CHRISTIANSTED, St.
Croix -- Delta launched nonstop, twice-weekly service from Atlanta
to St. Croix on March 5.
The 148-passenger,
year-round flights depart Wednesdays and Saturdays.
In conjunction with
the new route, Delta Vacations created packages that include free
hotel nights, food and beverage credits and other value-added
options.
Pamela Richards,
U.S. Virgin Islands (USVI) commissioner of tourism, said that the
new service "has tremendous implications for the continuing growth
and expansion of tourism to the territory, which increased 10% last
year."
The Southeastern
U.S. is a "key market for the USVI, and the new service adds
another gateway option for visitors coming to the USVI from other
parts of the country," she added.
