NASSAU, Bahamas --
Baha Mar Development Co. disclosed plans for a 2,700-room resort
project in the Cable Beach area, covering 500 beachfront acres and
representing a $1.2 billion investment for the first phase.
Three existing hotels
-- the Wyndham Nassau Resort & Crystal Palace Casino, the
Nassau Beach Hotel and the Radisson Cable Beach Resort -- will be
razed to make room for a casino hotel, a convention hotel, an
18-hole golf course and retail village by early 2009.
Michael Sansbury,
Baha Mar executive vice president, said the three properties will
remain open for at least the next two years, and we immediately
plan to improve the existing room product and
restaurants.
Sansbury said plans
call for a full casino makeover, a tower renovation at the Wyndham
and room upgrades at the Nassau Beach.
