The Islander Hotel at Ballast Ground in Grenada has been demolished to make way for a 120-room, high-end resort.

The resort will be part of the $555 million Port Louis development spearheaded by British developer Peter de Savary.

In addition to the hotel, the development will include the 350-slip Port Louis Marina for megayachts; 280 homes and villas; a spa; a 120-room, midprice hotel; and a beach with watersports and recreational activities.

Construction has begun on the marina; de Savary's megayacht is expected to be the first to arrive in early January.
