Valentine's Day is behind us, but that doesn't stop hoteliers from courting the romance-minded the rest of the year.
Elegant Hotels in Barbados, for example, is offering a complimentary Simply Elegant Wedding Package to couples staying at any of its five hotels in 2012. The participating hotels are the House, the Colony Club Hotel and the Tamarind as well as the all-inclusive Crystal Cove Hotel and Turtle Beach Resort.
In addition to champagne, flowers and a cake, the package includes some practical features, such as the services of a wedding coordinator and an officiant as well as the marriage license and registration.
Those looking to upgrade can also get a 30% discount on packages that throw in such extras as a champagne breakfast and a sunset cruise to the services of a videographer for the day and even a free manicure.
The company likes to stress that they allow weddings on Saturdays, not a given in Barbados, and that no more than two weddings take place on any day.
None of the packages include accommodations. Expect to pay from about $635 per night at the Colony Club, for example.
In Maine, couples can relax in one of 10 new oceanview Beach Suites at the Inn by the Sea in Cape Elizabeth, near Portland's Old Port.
Set to open in July, the one- and two-bedroom suites range in size from 700 to 1,300 square feet and overlook a pristine, mile-long beach next to two acres of newly restored habitat for endangered New England cottontail rabbits. Features include romance-inducing amenities such as gas fireplaces in the living areas; bathrooms with marble counters and oversize tubs; and private outdoor patios.
Summer rates for the Beach Suites will start at $709 per night.
The five-star and considerably farther-flung Outrigger on the Lagoon Fiji unveiled a menu of Wedding Ceremony and Reception packages that include the ceremony, a reception for up to 50 guests and four nights' accommodations for the bride and groom in an oceanview room with butler service. The packages are priced from about $5,900 and include flowers, a Fijian buffet dinner, a wedding cake and a beverage package. Also included are the services of an officiant and a wedding coordinator, the marriage license and transfers to the registry.
The package, which is only good for guests at the property, is valid until March 31.
