Danny, the first hurricane of the 2015
Atlantic hurricane season, formed Thursday far out in the Atlantic and could
reach the eastern Caribbean by Monday and Puerto Rico a day
later, according to the National Hurricane Center.
The Category One storm has sustained winds of 75
mph.
Forecast for the six-month hurricane season,
which began June 1, calls for below-average storm activity with six to 11
tropical storms, three to six reaching hurricane status and two reaching major
strength (winds topping 111 mph), according to the National Oceanic and
Atmospheric Administration.
