Insight Cuba expanded its offerings on its people-to-people programs to Cuba with a new series of Specialty Cuba tours, which have limited departures and often are coordinated around a specific event.
The launch of the Havana Marathon tours in June was the first in the series; the launch of the 12-day Cuba by Land & Sea tour on July 14 (six days overland and six days aboard the Louis Cristal cruise ship) was the second.
“It’s been generations since Americans could visit Cuba aboard a ship and discover parts of the island not easily accessible by land,” said Tom Popper, president.
Departures are Jan. 6 through 17, Feb. 24 through March 4, March 3 through 14, and May 17 through 28.
Tour prices are $5,495 per person, double. Roundtrip air from Miami is extra.
The tour visits Havana; Playa Giron, the site of the Bay of Pigs invasion; the Parque Nacional Cienaga de Zapata, a Unesco reserve; Cienfuegos; and then boards the cruise ship.
The ship stops at the Isla de Juventud (Island of Youth) and the northeastern shores of the Bahia de Nipe with a port call in Antilla.
A third specialty program is the Havana Art Biennial tour with three departures. Every two years, Havana and its streets turn into a giant outdoor art gallery featuring works from Cuban and international artists. Details on this tour will be announced shortly.
