Island Destinations adds 13 Caribbean resorts for 06

LARCHMONT, N.Y. -- Amanyara, a resort on Providenciales, Turks and Caicos, that is set to open in March, was selected as the most exciting new destination in luxury travel by Island Destinations, a luxury tour operator that features more than 70 hotels, resorts and villas worldwide in its portfolio.

The choice of Amanyara was made by Maurice Bonham-Carter, president of Island Destinations, at the recent launch of the 76-page Travelers Collection 2006 brochure, which showcases the firms properties.

Thirteen properties join the collection in 2006, including Le Sereno on St. Barts, while several high-end Caribbean hideaways that have been part of the portfolio for years -- such as Parrot Cay, Turks and Caicos; Cap Juluca, Anguilla; and Four Seasons Resort Nevis -- are still featured.

The resorts included in the Travelers Collection are chosen each year by more than 1,500 high-end travel agents who rate the properties on a specific set of criteria tailored to facilities, service and ambience.

A new award category, voted on by travel agent jurists for the first time this year, is sexiest hotel bathroom, won by Hotel Guanahani and Spa, on St. Barts.

Bonham-Carter said Island Destinations remains committed to working solely with travel agents and offering the most exclusive products in the destinations we serve.

Our pledge is to provide superior service and to build and invest in our agent relationships, he added.
