The Margaritaville Beach Resort Nassau has named Basil Dean as executive chef, marking a homecoming for the New Providence native.

Basil Dean
With more than 30 years of global experience, Dean will oversee culinary operations across nine dining venues, including the flagship JWB Prime Steak & Seafood as well as weddings and private events.
A seasoned leader with 12 years as an executive chef, Dean's portfolio includes tenures at the SLS Baha Mar and the Grand Lucayan Resort in the Bahamas, and international roles in New York and Turks and Caicos. In his new role, he is tasked with streamlining restaurant operations, mentoring local talent and infusing global techniques with distinctive Bahamian flair.
"We are thrilled to welcome Bahamian local chef Dean to Margaritaville Beach Resort Nassau," said Shyam Lalu, the property’s general manager. "His knowledge of global cuisines and experience leading full-scale teams will help streamline restaurant operations and ensure our culinary department is delivering exceptional quality service to our guests."
Dean, a bronze medalist at the 2008 World Culinary Olympics and vice president of the Bahamas Culinary Association, showcased his skills during the resort's annual Mother's Day Brunch on May 10.
