More hotels are reopening in the Caribbean

It's a flurry, not of snow, but of hotel and resort reopenings in the Caribbean ahead of the winter season. Here are the latest entries:

Elegant Hotels Group Barbados, part of the Marriott brand, announced the reopenings of  several of its Barbados resorts before the start of the holiday season.

Tamarind, a family resort, will reopen on Dec. 4. The Colony Club; the adults-only Treasure Beach, Crystal Cove's individual cottages and the Waves Hotel & Spa are open.

Two more resorts, The adults-only House and the family-friendly Turtle Beach, are slated to reopen in January.

The Palladium Hotel Group's TRS Cap Cana Hotel in Punta Cana will welcome guests beginning Dec. 4. The adults-only, all-inclusive resort offers Stay Safe Plus, a free medical insurance program, which protects guests against medical and health emergencies.

The Ritz-Carlton, St. Thomas, recently reopened with revamped public spaces, a new dining venue Alloro, an upgraded luxury catamaran, a three-bedroom penthouse accommodation for up to eight guests, the Seaside Spa Cabana and an upscale marketplace called Southwind Trading Post. The resort completed a $100 million redesign at the end of 2019 but closed early in 2020 due to Covid.

Scrub Island Resort, Spa & Marina in the British Virgin Islands, a member of Marriott's Autograph Collection, reopens Dec. 1 with 52 guest accommodations, including suites and villas, a 55-slip marina, two beaches, an infinity pool, spa and on-site access to dive and sailing charters.

Anguilla's Malliouhana, Auberge Resorts Collection reopens Dec. 17 and will debut an optional all-inclusive package called More Malliouhana that covers meals,  snacks, nonalcoholic beverages and all resort activities.

New this winter is Caribbean Cinema movies on the beach and wellness treatments by the sea.

Hotel and resort reopenings on Nassau Paradise Island include Atlantis Paradise Island and Comfort Suites on Dec. 10, Grand Hyatt Baha Mar on Dec. 17 and Sandals Royal Bahamian on Jan. 28.

Already open are Sunrise Beach Club & Villas, Paradise Island Beach Club, Bay View Suites, The Ocean Club and Graycliff Hotel.
