The V.C. Bird International Airport in Antigua opened on Aug. 27.
Facilities at the airport, which carries a price tag of just under $100 million, include four jet bridges, 46 check-in counters, 15 self-check-in kiosks, a large departure lounge, 30 retail units, free Wifi, a pet restroom, restaurants and three lounges.

The airport is expected to handle more than one million passengers a year. For the upcoming winter season, JetBlue will begin nonstop service from New York Kennedy on Nov. 5.
The construction project broke ground in November 2011. The previous terminal, which processed more than 86,000 passengers a year, will continue to be used for administrative purposes.
