There is something brewing in the Cayman
Islands these days -- and it has nothing to do with hotel
development, tourism numbers or high-season packages.
The former Stingray
Brewery on Grand Cayman is undergoing a multi-million-dollar
overhaul and will reopen by the end of the year under the new name
The Cayman Islands Brewery.
Along with the new
facility will come the development and launch of a new Cayman
Islands beer, although the timetable has not yet been set.
Stingray, a local beer, will continue to be brewed on Grand
Cayman.
Brewtech, a German
consulting firm that specializes in the design and construction of
breweries and the upgrading of existing facilities, is on the scene
in Grand Cayman overseeing the overhaul.
The firm has had a
large role in the development of Caribbean beers, including Balashi
in Aruba, Wadadli in Antigua and Kubuli in Dominica.
