Tropical Storm Paula, the season's 16th named storm, is expected to be the 9th hurricane of the season by Tuesday.

Early forecast tracks send it in a big circle, taking Florida out of play, at least for now, according to the National Hurricane Center.

The storm is about 365 miles south-southeast of Cozumel, Mexico, and moving northwest at 9 mph.

A hurricane warning is up for most of the Yucatan's eastern Gulf coast and a tropical storm warning is in effect south to Belize.

The storm is expected to turn northwest and then north Tuesday and Wednesday and still be floating around the Gulf of Mexico this weekend.
