Karisma Hotels and Resorts and Nickelodeon parent Viacom broke ground earlier this summer for the first Nickelodeon-branded resort in the Caribbean.

The $92 million, 204-suite Nickelodeon Punta Cana is slated to open in mid-2016. The family-friendly, all-inclusive property will feature appearances by Nickelodeon characters, including SpongeBob SquarePants and Dora the Explorer.

The resort will feature the Nick Village, the Nick Waterpark, a sports center, bars and restaurants and several pools

Childrens’ entertainment will be at the heart of the Karisma resort and will be similar to what Karisma offers at its Azul-branded properties along Mexico’s Caribbean coast and in Jamaica.
