Bonita Morgan, director of resource mobilization and development for the Caribbean Tourism Organization, died on April 6 in the U.S., where she was undergoing treatment for cancer.

Morgan joined CTO in its headquarters in Bridgetown, Barbados, in 1996 and introduced many programs during her tenure, including courses for the hospitality program across the region, tourism education materials for primary and secondary schools and the annual youth congress and human resources conferences.

She was a driving force behind the CTO Foundation, which has provided scholarships and grants to Caribbean nationals pursuing post-secondary studies in tourism, hospitality and language training since 1997.

Morgan also raised funds for needy families in Barbados and collected supplies for Dominica after Hurricane Maria.
