Renovations highlight several of the Palladium Hotel Group's resorts in the Caribbean and Mexico as they ready for the winter season, according to Jacques de Paep, commercial director for the Americas.
The hotel group has two Jamaica properties, five in the Dominican Republic and seven in Mexico.
Planned for the Grand Palladium Jamaica Resort & Spa and the neighboring Grand Palladium Lady Hamilton Resort & Spa, both in Lucea just west of Montego Bay, are a new water park and upgrades of the sports bars.
In Punta Cana, the adults-only Royal Suites will open 103 renovated ocean-facing rooms and a new pool on Nov. 1, and the Grand Palladium Punta Cana will open 400 renovated rooms on Nov. 1.
The Grand Palladium Colonial Rivera Maya is refurbishing 450 rooms by Nov. 1; the Grand Palladium Vallarta resort & Spa is building a kids' pool and water slide.
"No new hotels are planned for 2015, but we are looking to expand down the road," de Paep said. "This year has been a fantastic one for us in terms of revenue and occupancy, and the U.S. market has come a long way since the recent recession years."
Traffic from the U.S. was the main driver for Palladium prior to 2009, and Palladium is putting a focus again on the U.S. but continues to promote its resorts in Latin America, Canada and parts of Europe.
