The June 17 opening of the remodeled and expanded departure lounge at St. Maarten's Princess Juliana Airport marked the launch of a new retail strategy to increase the airport's non-aviation revenue, according to Regina LaBega, the airport's managing director.

The renovated lounge is a component of the airport's capital improvement program, designed to create an attractive space that will lure passengers to spend more at the concessionaires prior to boarding their flights.

The spacious lounge includes kiosks, merchandise displays, seating and refreshment areas and a duty-free shopping venue.
