The port in San Juan reopened on Saturday, allowing 11 ships
to bring in 1.6 million gallons of water, 23,000 cots, dozens of large
generators and food.
Dozens of shipments are expected in the coming days, reported
the Guardian.
FEMA officials said that 1,360 of the island's cellphone
towers were down, and 85% of above-ground and underground phone and internet
cables were knocked out.
Ten commercial roundtrip flights operated this weekend: six by
American (five from Miami and one from
Philadelphia), one by Delta from Atlanta, two by JetBlue from New York, and one
by Spirit from Orlando.
Flights from other countries are expected to resume Monday.
The airport is operating for flights between 7 a.m. and 5
p.m.
Long lines at the airport were reported as people tried to
get on flights to the U.S. mainland. With virtually no cell service available,
people just showed up at the airport, hoping to get a seat.
