SAN FRANCISCO -- Travel in Style has designed a 12-night Felucca on
the Nile program, giving clients a chance to sail on Nile waters
aboard one of Egypt's traditional riverboats.
A three-day cruise by felucca, the vessel of choice since the time
of the ancient pharaohs, is the centerpiece of this tour, which
also includes tours of Cairo, visits to the dam and the Philae
Island temple at Aswan as well as the temples of Ramses the Great
and Queen Nefertari at Abu Simbel. Other highlights are visits to
the temples at Luxor and Karnak.
The Felucca on the Nile program is priced from $1,580 per
Departures this year are Nov. 5 and Dec. 3. The cost includes
air fare from New York; accommodations in Cairo, Luxor and Aswan;
most meals; entrance fees, and the services of local guides.
Passengers will find themselves close to ancient history when on
this Nile cruise, with visits to Kom Ombo and Edfu.
What they won't find is a captain's reception, midnight buffets
or even a cabin; passengers will be given their own sleeping bags,
which they will stretch out on the deck to sleep in under the
stars. The felucca's capacity is limited to six passengers, and
meals on board are served camp-style.
