Royal Caribbean International took delivery of the Allure of the Seas in Turku, Finland, on Thursday at the STX Europe shipyard.
The 5,400-passenger Allure is sister ship to the Oasis of the Seas, which was delivered one year ago.
Construction on the Allure began two years ago. The ship has many of the features found on the Oasis, such as the open-air neighborhoods of Central Park and the Boardwalk as well as the outdoor AquaTeater, host to the only diving shows at sea.
The Allure also has unique features such as the first Starbucks outlet at sea, a Brazilian churrascaria, a Mexican restaurant and hot dog stand on the Boardwalk, and the first Guess store at sea.
According to a report in USA Today's Cruise Log, STX's Turku yard will shut down for almost a year after delivering the Allure, because there are no ships to work on. The yard will begin work on a Finnish Viking Line ship next summer after recently signing a contract for it.
