Ambassadors CEO quits early

Ambassadors International CEO Joe Ueberroth will resign on April 1, five months ahead of schedule.

In September 2008, Ueberroth announced his resignation and gave the company 12 months notice to assist with a transition period.

However, because the company has nearly completed a move of its corporate headquarters from Newport Beach, Calif., to Seattle, Ueberroth "felt it was now the appropriate time for him to leave," Ambassadors said.

Ueberroth also resigned from Ambassadors’ board of directors.

In February, Ambassadors announced that the company was selling all assets except Windstar Cruises. The company will shed its marina and event-planning businesses.
