American Cruise Lines to debut new ship on Maine itinerary

American Cruise Lines' newest vessel, the American Star, will spend its inaugural summer cruising Maine's coast and harbors from June 16 to Sept. 29.

The 100-passenger American Star is designed similarly to its sister-ship, the American Spirit.

The American Star will begin its inaugural season on June 2 with a seven-night maiden voyage on the Chesapeake Bay before heading north to Maine.

The route along Maine's coast will stop at towns along Penobscot and Blue Hill bays including Bangor, Bar Harbor, Belfast, Bucksport, Camden, Castine and Rockland.

The 49-passenger American Glory also will sail the same itinerary from Aug. 4 to Sept. 1.
