American Safari Cruises doubles '08 capacity with two new ships

American Safari Cruises, which currently offers trips on yachts of no more than 22 passengers, will double its capacity in 2008, with the addition of two new vessels: a 150-foot, 39-passenger yacht, the Safari Explorer, and a 108-foot, six-passenger, charter-only boat, the Safari Legend.

The company said that both vessels are scheduled to enter service in Alaska in May 2008, and that the Safari Explorer, which will also undergo a multi-million dollar retrofit, will then sail interisland Hawaii cruises beginning in December 2008, offering 21 departures through May, 2009.

American Safari currently sails the 22-guest Safari Quest, the 12-guest Safari Spirit and the 12-guest Safari Escape.
