The Brazilian cruise season will restart on March 5 after a two-month hiatus to negotiate Covid-19 protocols, according to CLIA Brazil.

Operations will run until April 18, when the cruise season ends. The next cruise season in Brazil is scheduled to begin in October.

CLIA voluntarily suspended Brazil cruise operations in January, saying it would work on behalf of MSC Cruises and Costa Cruises to align with federal, state and municipal health and safety measures that were approved in November.

The move came after Covid-19 cases were found onboard cruise ships and Brazil's health agency warned people against boarding cruise ships

The suspension was initially expected to last until Jan. 21.

Protocols at Brazilian ports require full vaccinations for guests and crew members, pre-embarkation testing, frequent testing of at least 10% of passengers and crew and reduced capacity on board to facilitate social distancing.

The regulations also include a mask mandate and the completion of a personal health form.
