Carnival Victory to offer foliage cruises

MIAMI -- Carnival Cruise Lines' newest ship, the 2,758-passenger Carnival Victory, will offer the company's first weeklong fall foliage cruises departing roundtrip from New York beginning in September 2001.

The ship will offer four seven-day voyages between Sept. 8 and 29 that will make calls at Boston; Portland, Maine, and Sydney and Halifax, Nova Scotia.

The calls at Sydney and Portland mark two additional firsts for Carnival.

The deployment will add to Carnival's growing presence in the Northeast. Last week, the line said the Carnival Victory, which enters service on Aug. 18, will spend the spring and summer of 2001 on the East Coast, offering four- and five-day cruises from New York between May and September.

The Carnival Victory is currently in the final stages of construction at Italy's Fincantieri shipyard.

The vessel will feature a high percentage of staterooms with balconies; a two-deck-high eatery offering alternatives for breakfast, lunch and dinner, and interiors inspired by the world's most famous bodies of water.
