MIAMI -- Carnival Cruise Lines' newest ship, the 2,758-passenger
Carnival Victory, will offer the company's first weeklong fall
foliage cruises departing roundtrip from New York beginning in
The ship will offer four seven-day voyages between Sept. 8 and
29 that will make calls at Boston; Portland, Maine, and Sydney and
Halifax, Nova Scotia.
The calls at Sydney and Portland mark two additional firsts for
The deployment will add to Carnival's growing presence in the
Northeast. Last week, the line said the Carnival Victory, which
enters service on Aug. 18, will spend the spring and summer of 2001
on the East Coast, offering four- and five-day cruises from New
York between May and September.
The Carnival Victory is currently in the final stages of
construction at Italy's Fincantieri shipyard.
The vessel will feature a high percentage of staterooms with
balconies; a two-deck-high eatery offering alternatives for
breakfast, lunch and dinner, and interiors inspired by the world's
most famous bodies of water.
