Carnival Cruise Lines said it set a reservations record last week.

Between Feb. 7 and 13, Carnival said it booked 165,308 customers, breaking a record set nearly four years ago.

CEO Gerry Cahill said that while the economy has improved, consumers are looking to stretch their vacation dollar and that Carnival offers "incredible value."

He also credited travel agents’ efforts as well as Carnival’s marketing and sales initiatives.
