The Celebrity Reflection, Celebrity Cruises’ fifth ship in its Solstice class of vessels, has left the Meyer Werft shipyard in Papenburg, Germany.
Celebrity said the vessel crossed the Ems River in 10 hours on its way to the North Sea.
The ship’s size and the geography of the shipyard required the captain to steer the ship backward, assisted by tugboats. The journey also required the removal of power lines and railway tracks that normally pass over the river, the cruise line said.
Following sea trials and the completion of finishing work in Eemshaven, Netherlands, the 3,030-passenger Reflection will host an invitation-only preview sailing before embarking on its maiden cruise from Amsterdam on Oct. 12.
