Celebrity
Cruises has created a chief marketing officer position and named Peter Giorgi
to the role.
Giorgi had
been working at Airbnb in San Francisco as global head of advertising and
content. In his new job, he will direct brand strategy and development,
digital marketing, social media, research, loyalty, direct marketing and
advertising at Celebrity.

Peter Giorgi
Trade marketing will remain with
vice president of sales Dondra Ritzenthaler.
In an interview, Giorgi said
part of the reason for leaving Airbnb was to return to the East Coast. He had
worked previously for the Crispin Porter + Bogusky ad
agency in Miami. But he said the bigger reason was the opportunity to
take charge of Celebrity’s "Modern Luxury" campaign.
“It started out with a little bit
of curiosity and ended up with me jumping in with both feet,” Giorgi said.
Brand president Lisa Lutoff-Perlo praised Giorgi
for his "impressive experience and style of creativity,” and said his
ability to develop ideas based on original or unconventional
approaches was just what Celebrity needed.
Giorgi said he has taken two cruises, both on
Royal Caribbean International. “The first cruise I went on we had a
balcony, and my favorite part was actually eating breakfast on the balcony as we
pulled into port,” he said. “There is something that is just so romantic
and unlike any other way you can travel."
