FORT LAUDERDALE — Japanese-American chef Roy Yamaguchi will introduce a specialty pan-Asian restaurant on the MSC Seaside

The restaurant will be the keystone of a new partnership, which MSC Cruises announced at the Seatrade Cruise Global convention here.

As part of the partnership, Yamaguchi will be involved in conceptualizing and designing the new restaurant. His role includes creating the recipes and menus, selecting the chinaware, choosing music to create the ambience, picking wines to complement the food and even paper stock for the menus.

Yamaguchi is the founder of 30 Roy’s restaurants, including 28 in the United States, one in Guam and one in Okinawa, Japan. He has won the James Beard award and hosts “Hawaii Cooks with Roy Yamaguchi,” a TV cooking show seen in 60 countries.

The MSC Seaside, due in December 2017, will sail Caribbean cruises from Miami.
