With several cruise ships recently dealing with Covid-19 infections aboard, Sen. Richard Blumenthal (D-Conn.) has called for a pause in cruising.

In a Twitter post on Tuesday, Blumenthal said, "Our warnings have proved sadly prescient & continuously compelling. Time for CDC & cruise lines to protect consumers & again pause -- docking their ships. Cruises are repeating recent history as petri dishes of Covid infection."

Blumenthal's comments come while the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention updated its color status tracker for cruise ships.

On Tuesday, some 85 ships had a yellow status, meaning reported cases of Covid-19 have met the threshold for CDC investigation.
