Costa Mediterranea to leave Caribbean region in 2008

Costa Cruises said the Costa Mediterranea would not sail in the Caribbean during the 2008-2009 season, but Italian cruise line did not reveal where the ship will be redeployed to.

Costa said that the ship would be "redeployed to a different key core market, allowing Costa to reinforce its strategic global positions."

The Costa Mediterranea will continue with its scheduled sailings in the Caribbean this winter from Fort Lauderdale, joining the Costa Fortuna, which operates eastern and western Caribbean itineraries out of Fort Lauderdale.
