Rather than lament the strength and growth of the major cruise lines, some tour operators are coming around to the idea of working with the cruise lines, rather than against them.
During a recent lunch with several executives from one of the largest escorted-tour companies, an idea to make creating a cruise/tour itinerary more seamless was presented: Rather than try to compete with the cruise lines, why not try to capture the cruise customer with pre- and post-cruise tour offerings that correspond to popular cruise departures and ports?
Now Isramworld is doing just that, having launched Shore Excursions by IsramWorld, a series of custom-designed, private-car itineraries for cruise passengers.
The private-car shore excursions have been designed as upscale programs that are being made available in destinations including Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Greece, Italy, Egypt, Israel, Turkey, Central Europe, China and Thailand.
Isramworld, based in New York, is marketing Shore Excursions by Isramworld as an alternative to the crowds cruise-goers face when their ships dock, and with customized touring catered to clients' interests.
The new program is fully commissionable.
