Holland America Line said that the Veendam will remain in New York overnight on Sunday, and will depart on its Bermuda cruise on Monday.

Guests will be able to embark as scheduled on Sunday provided there is access to the cruise terminal.

Due to the oredered evacuation of some areas of the city and expected transit challenges, access to the cruise terminal may be limited or closed on Sunday, HAL noted.

Norwegian Cruise Line’s Norwegian Jewel returned to New York early on Saturday, and guests disembarked beginning at 6 a.m. Embarkation for the Aug. 27 cruise to Florida and the Bahamas began at 10 a.m., and the ship departed three hours earlier than scheduled, at 1 p.m.

The Norwegian Gem is slated to remain at sea on Sunday instead of returning to New York as scheduled. The ship will arrive in New York at 8 a.m. on Monday.

All guests for the Aug. 28 cruise were asked to arrive at the pier on Monday, beginning at noon. The ship is scheduled to depart New York at 4 p.m. on Monday en route to Bermuda.

At New Jersey’s Bayonne Cruise Terminal, Celebrity Cruises’ Celebrity Summit will return from Bermuda a day early, docking on Saturday rather than Sunday, according to reports.

Royal Caribbean International’s Explorer of the Seas is due to depart from Bayonne for Bermuda on Saturday, and will do so one hour earlier than originally planned, at 4 p.m.

With the early arrival of two ships at the Manhattan Cruise Terminal, Carnival had four ships disembarking on Saturday.

“The Carnival ships are going to leave the port and head out to sea to ride out the storm,” said terminal spokeswoman Sherrie Currin.

This report was updated Saturday with new information.
