Spas on Cunard Line ships will be rebranded as Mareel
Wellness & Beauty, a new spa concept developed in partnership with Canyon
Ranch.
Cunard North America senior vice president Josh Leibowitz called
Mareel "Cunard's first-ever, uniquely conceived spa concept."
Mareel will launch exclusively on the refurbished Queen
Elizabeth this month, closely followed by the Queen Victoria. The Queen Mary 2 will
get the Mareel spa in November 2020.
Cunard said the name Mareel, meaning phosphorescence of the
ocean, "is taken from the ancient Norse language and speaks to the illuminating
light and healing energy of the sea."
The entire spa will be redesigned. Cunard said the new spa
decor will feature hues of blue, green and pale coral.
New offerings on the Queen Elizabeth include a couples suite
for seaweed bathing rituals, a meditation room with acoustic resonance loungers,
a redesigned fitness center and studio space, and sound therapy facilities in
every treatment room.
The 'Ocean Discovery' will launch as the signature treatment
featuring organic marine-based products.
Mareel will also feature enhanced wellness experiences
across the ship's daily activity program, including stretch and daily
meditation videos shown on stateroom TVs, wellness seminars, and outdoor dance
and yoga classes.
