CruiseOne and Cruises Inc. launched a land travel division, a major shift for the former cruise-only retailers.
The new program was announced at the companies' annual conference onboard the Carnival Pride out of Baltimore.
Similarly, Cruise Holidays last October said it would expand into land vacations during its national convention on the Norwegian Pearl.
CruiseOne and Cruises Inc., part of World Travel Holdings, have already officially licensed more than 1,000 of its CruiseOne franchise owners and Cruises Inc. independent agents to sell land travel.
The land division will be rolled out in several phases. The first phase, which launched Wednesday, includes a partnership with ten preferred partners, including Globus, Gogo Worldwide Vacations, Sandals Resorts, Trafalgar and Travel Impressions.
Preferred suppliers will offer exclusive travel promotions and the "highest possible commissions," CruiseOne and Cruises Inc. said.
"While our new land division will evolve over time, the network of preferred land partners we have assembled out of the gate will be our primary focus," said Dwain Wall, senior vice president and general manager of CruiseOne and Cruises Inc.
Future phases expected to launch over the next two years will include the addition of new partners, said the retailers.
In preparation for the rollout of its land division, CruiseOne and Cruises Inc. implemented strategic initiatives to streamline the transition, such educational programs.
