Fred Olsen eliminates direct-booking discount

Citing its commitment to the trade and to a “level playing field,” Fred Olsen Cruise Lines is abolishing its 5% online discount for consumers who book direct on the company website.

Effective with the distribution of the line’s 2013 brochure, due at the end of February, the discount will be removed from all cruises.

“We would like to be in a position where the price you see is the price you get, and is the same wherever you see it. This decision demonstrates our on-going commitment to the trade,” said Nathan Philpot, sales and marketing director for Fred Olsen.

U.S.-based travel agents can book clients through Borton Overseas, Fred Olsen’s U.S. representative.

Agents can contact Borton Overseas at (612) 822-4640 or visit www.bortonoverseas.com/cruises.
