New to the North American market, Compagnie du Ponant, a luxury cruise line with three yachts and an expedition vessel, wants to get its message out to travel agents. The line opened a North American sales office in February, and its new megayacht, Le Boreal, began sailing earlier this month.
Compagnie du Ponant has launched a series of free webinars designed to familiarize travel industry professionals in the U.S. and Canada with the cruise line. Agents can participate in the first module on May 26. The second module will be released in June, and the third in July.
- Module 1, "Discover the Magic of Yacht Cruises," provides an overview of the company and its fleet, services and itineraries.
- Module 2, "Compagnie du Ponant's Exceptional Itineraries," will offer a review of Ponant's itineraries, off-the-beaten-track ports of call and customized shore excursions.
- Module 3, "Doing Business with Compagnie du Ponant," will cover the logistics of groups, charters, pricing and policies as well as sales and marketing tools.
"Compagnie du Ponant is new in the market, and since we are working exclusively with the travel trade, we want to ensure that travel agents know our product and have all the tools they need," said Miguel Rodriguez, head of reservations for the line.
The three-masted Le Ponant is a 290-foot sailing yacht that accommodates 64 guests in 32 outside staterooms; Le Levant carries 90 guests in 45 outside staterooms; and expedition ship Le Diamant accommodates 226 guests in 113 staterooms and suites, some with private verandas. The line's newest vessel, the 466-foot Le Boreal, is a 264-guest megayacht. All but eight of its 132 suites and staterooms have verandas. Its sister ship, L'Austral, will debut in May 2011.
