Holland America Line has canceled its remaining port calls in Turkey for the rest of 2016.

HAL said that six cruises are affected, including Sept. 16 and 28 departures on the Oosterdam, Sept. 20 and Oct. 20 departures on the Prinsendam, a Sept. 27 departure on the Eurodam and a Sept. 30 departure on the Koningsdam.

The cruise line will refund guests who booked shore excursions. Taxes and fees applied to the cruise will be adjusted accordingly, HAL said.

“We share in our guests’ disappointment when unexpected events occur which require us to adjust our published itineraries and we appreciate their understanding that the safety of our guests and crew is our top priority,” HAL said in a statement.

Turkey has endured terrorist attacks this year from both Islamic extremists and Kurdish rebel groups, as well as a failed coup by a military faction.

Most other cruise lines have stopped beginning or ending cruises at Istanbul, and many have suspended calls at other Turkish ports.
