A new cruise venture from a hospitality company officially launched operations this month.
The Elegant, a 216-passenger ship operated by Grupo Vidanta, set sail in the Mediterranean on April 11.
Grupo Vidanta has resorts and hotels in Mexico, and announced in 2021 that it would expand into cruising.
The Elegant's itineraries are primarily seven-day sailings and include some adults-only voyages.
The 108 suites and staterooms range from 130-square-foot studio cabins to the 1,431-square-foot Imperial Suite. Originally built for more than 600 guests, the ship was reconfigured to significantly lower the guest count and increase the size of accommodations.
There are three restaurants onboard: a Mexican dining outlet, an Asian fusion eatery and a Mediterranean restaurant. The ship also has a buffet and several venues with light bites.
Other venues include bars, a casino, a pool and hot tub, and an inflatable marina.
The Elegant sailed an inaugural voyage from Portugal on April 11, and its 2026 season will continue through October with seven-day itineraries. Its 2027 season will begin in May of next year.
