Alaskan port Icy Strait Point will build a second cruise
pier in partnership with Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings.
Norwegian's three brands -- Norwegian Cruise Line, Oceania
Cruises and Regent Seven Seas Cruises -- will have preferential berthing rights
when the pier opens. NCLH expects the pier will be open for the summer season
The second pier will enable NCLH ships to make more calls at
Icy Strait Point, which is 35 miles west of Juneau. The Seven Seas Mariner,
Norwegian Jewel, Norwegian Joy and Oceania's Regatta are currently scheduled to
call at Icy Strait Point in 2019.
Port owner Huna Totem Corp. opened the first pier in 2016 in
partnership with the City of Hoonah. Huna Totem is owned by shareholders with aboriginal
ties to Hoonah.
